Help us design a new logo to identify the Library.  We are looking for something a little different, something beyond the colorful stack of books or picture of the building — something that when seen, everyone will know it’s the Meade Public Library!  This will be used on business cards, letterhead, advertising, mailings, etc.  Click on the Logo Contest button above for rules and prize information for the contest.

On Display this Month:
Famous Kansans – in the Emily Pinnick Room – Meade Junior High 7th Graders have put together a display featuring famous Kansans.  Don’t miss a chance to learn about some of the people who have called Kansas home.

Welcome to our new Cataloger & Interlibrary Loan Clerk, Dee Overbay.  Dee has been a long-time patron of the library, and we’re excited to now have her on staff.  She started in early December and is filling the position left by Marshela Adolfson who has retired.

This Week at the Library

Here are two events coming up at the library this week. We hope you’ll join us.

November 16, 10:00 a.m.: Thursday Morning Coffee. Join us for coffee, tea and snacks while we share a little bit about the book we have just read. This is not a “formal” book club–every book, every genre is acceptable. Please bring the book you will be talking about and see if you can talk someone else into reading it!

November 18, 6:30 p.m.: We will be watching the movie “Gifted” with Chris Evans and Mckenna Grace. This is a movie about a single man who is raising his child prodigy niece. He is drawn into a custody battle with his mother who has other plans for the child. (For ages 18 and older.) We’ll provide the popcorn and snacks, bring your own favorite drink.

Holiday Harvest of Books

Our annholiday-wheatual Holiday Harvest of Books is going on during the month of October and early November.

The Holiday Harvest is a chance for people to purchase the pre-selected books in our display and help us stretch our budget just a little bit further.  It is also a great opportunity for people to donate a book in honor or memory of a loved one.

There are books for all ages, interests and budgets to choose from.

Mark Your Calendar

We have several events for you to remember in the next few weeks:

The Book Mobile will be delivering books today (September 20).  Stop in and check out the selections.

The next Evening at the Movies will be on October 7 (Saturday) at 6:30 p.m.  The selection  is a movie about a grieving man who receives a mysterious, personal invitation to meet with God at an abandoned shack in the Oregon wilderness.  (Sorry, but our movie license doesn’t allow us to advertise the name of the movie outside of our library walls.)  Bring your favorite beverage, we’ll provide the popcorn.  This event is for adults only — age 18 and older.

The Friends of the Library will be having a meeting on October 10 (Tuesday) at 5:30 p.m. in the Library Community Room.  They will be planning the Christmas season activities.  We encourage you to get involved with this group.  They do a lot to help out our library.
