On Display at MPL

We are lucky to have the High School Art students’ entries from the High Plains League Art Show in the Pinnick Room.  Mrs. Lynnette Gonzalez, USD 226 Art Instructor and her students have been very gracious in the last three years to allow MPL to display their pieces.  Again this year we will give a People’s Choice Award to the favorite piece of the show.  Stop by and see the amazing art and vote for your favorite! On display until April 24th, so don’t delay!

In our lighted display case we are highlighting Car and Truck banks collected by Jack Shelton throughout his life.  Cheryle Shelton was willing to bring in some of the many banks he collected for our case.  There are some intriguing pieces on display!

Hear ye, Hear ye…What’s new at the Library!

BOOK SPINE POETRY: select from our preprinted book spine titles and create a poem uniquely yours.  When you have got it just right, tape it down on a sheet of paper and we’ll display it in the Library.  Everybody is a poet, so get creative!

CHOCOLATE BAR CHALLENGE:  for our beginning to High School readers.  Read a marked book from our NEW BOOKS shelves and give us a review and earn a chocolate bar!  Reviews will be displayed with the book.  Maybe your friend will read the book you reviewed!

And the winners are. . .

First Place: Lynnette Gonzalez                 Second Place: Lainey Jones                 Third Place:  Leah Sims                                           Adult Division                                         2nd-6th Grade Division                    7th-12th Grade Division

We had 29 entries for our Logo Contest.  It was a tough decision for our Judges as they first had to find a winner in the three divisions and then determine who would receive which place.   Entries were placed in sealed envelopes with the artist information on another slip of paper that was placed in another envelope by age division.  At the end of the contest the envelopes with informations slips were sealed and opened by the Library Board after the judges were finished with their deliberating.  The judges did not know who had submitted the entries, just the age division the entries were in.  Congratulations to all those who entered our contest, there were a lot of creative entries brought in!  A big THANK YOU to Carol Hewitt and Kim Stevens who agreed to be our judges!

Stop in the Library and see all the entries.  We’ll have them up for a couple of weeks.
