This is the theme for the 2013 Summer Reading Program. A wide variety of activities and programs is planned for Pre-Schoolers thru Adults.
May 23 (Thursday)     10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
Make decorations for the library.

May 30 (Thursday)     10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
Special Craft Day

June 1 (Saturday)
This is the first day to turn in books for the Summer Reading Program.

July 9 (Tuesday)     12:00 noon     Adults Only
Pizza Party with a Twist
We will be having the traditional meat and cheese pizzas plus a variety of dessert and vegetable pizzas.  We’ve been collecting recipes!

July 10 (Wednesday)
This is the last day to turn in books for the Summer Reading Program.

Family Story Time
Held on Wednesdays at 10:00 a.m.

Dr. Patrick Ross, Southwestern College – Life in a Cup of Dirt
Dig in with Dr. Ross and discover the rich life and real value in a cup of dirt — a hands-on experience

June 18 (Tuesday)
Tom Flowers – Caves, Underground, Birds, Roots, Mammals & More!

June 20 (Thursday)
Norman Dye – Diggin’ for Dinosaurs

June 25 (Tuesday)
The Mad Scientist

July 13 (Saturday)     2:00 p.m.
Final Program and Prize Drawings
Participants must complete their Summer Reading Requirements to be eligible for the drawings.  Must be present to win.
Anne Hawkins of Topeka KS portrays Mary Jane Ritche – Dig Into History:  The Underground Railroad in Bleeding Kansas
Anne Hawkins is a historian and educator with a masters degree in history..  She loves teaching and bringing history to life.  She teaches at Washburn University and also teaches U.S. and World History courses to homeschooled youth acros Northeast Kansas.  Ms. Hawkins will be portraying Mary Jane Ritchie who was part of the Underground Railroad in 1860 Kansas Territory.
