Programs and Events – Summer Reading 2016

All Teen Tuesdays begin at 10:00 a.m. (for children grades 6-12)
All Family Time Thursdays begin at 10:30 a.m. (for ages pre-school and up, including parents)

We are also including a “Family Fun Challenge” for the whole family to get involved in.  It’s sort of like a scavenger hunt and is suitable for families of all sizes and ages.

June 2  —  10:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.:  Decorate the library

June 7  —  Teen Tuesday:  Opening Ceremonies

June 9  —  Family Time Thursday:  George Archuleta, a Native American from Burdett KS, will share stories of the Tewa Pueblo Indian Tribe and tell us the real meaning of the Pow Wow.

June 9  —  For the Adults:  12:00 noon  —  Mona Archulets is a certified herbalist and will talk about “Kitchen Herbs and Their Medicinal Uses.”  Join us for a pizza lunch.  There is no cost, but you must reserve a spot by 5 p.m. on July 8 so we can make sure to have enough.

June 14  —  Teen Tuesday:  Relay Race

June 14  —  For the Adults:  Movie Day!  1:00 p.m.  Tom Selleck stars as a wealthy Chicago broker who is forced to bring his aging parents to his home to take care of them.  Refreshments will be served.

June 16  —  Family Time Thursday:  Game Day!  We will be playing classic outdoor games.  Invite all your friends!

June 16  7:00 p.m.  Scott Novosel, former walk-on KU basketball star and graphic novel author, will share his story and talk about working hard to achieve your dreams.

June 21  —  Teen Tuesday:  Wacky Word

June 21  —  For the Adults:  Christine McPheter from the K-State Extension Office will make Healthy Smoothies to enjoy with our Taco Bar lunch.  There is no cost, but you must reserve a spot by 5 p.m. on July 20 so we can make sure to have enough.

June 23  —  Family Time Thursday:  On Your Mark…Hurdle to a Healthy Lifestyle.  Christine McPheter from the K-State Extension Office will lead in fun activities that focus on Health and Nutrition.

June 28  —  Teen Tuesday:  Scavenger Hunt

June 28  —  1:00 p.m. – For the Adults:  Adult Coloring!  We will provide the pages and markers for some stress-free fun!  Anyone over 18 is welcome to join us.

June 30  —  Family Time Thursday:  Shake Rattle and Rhyme with Thad Beach.  He is an entertainer, musician, songwriter, and teaching artist and performs with ukulele, harmonica, kazoo, jaw harp, guitar, and his band in a bucket.

July 5  —  Teen Tuesday:  Scrambles

July 7  —  1:00 p.m. – Family Time Thursday:  The Southwest Kansas Library System folks will be here to make READ posters staring YOU!!!  This is a fun “Green Screen” event, so don’t wear green today!

July 27  For the Adults:  Adult Coloring!  We will provide the pages and markers for some stress-free fun!  Anyone over 18 is welcome to join us.

July 12  —  Teen Tuesday:  Closing Ceremonies

July 14  —  Family Time Thursday:  Movie Day!  Come in for fun with your friends.  Popcorn will be served!

July 14  1:00 p.m. – For the Adults:  Adult Coloring!  We will provide the pages and markers for some stress-free fun!  Anyone over 18 is welcome to join us.
