Programs and Events



Adult Programs are for High School through Adult.  If anyone young than high school attends, they must be accompanied by a an adult (age 18 or over).  On the days we serve lunch during the program, we will need to have a reservation.  There will be no charge for the lunch, but we need to make sure we have enough food for everyone.

May 18 – 4 pm to 5 pm – Craft Day at the Library
Join us for Craft Time to decorate the library for Summer Reading

(Adults)  June 7 (Wednesday,11 a.m.) – The Honey Party
Olis Lauppe from Fowler will bring his bee hive and share with us about his honey producing operation.  We will serve lunch at this program.  (Starting at 10 a.m., we will have our Honey Party.  We have about 15 different varieties of honey for you to sample and then vote on your favorite.  You’ll be amazed at the difference in flavors in the different honeys.  This is come-and-go and will end at 3 p.m.)

June 8 (Thursday, 10 a.m.) – Craft Day at the Library
We will make a 3D Letter Sculpture (using the first letter of your name).  You will need to sign up by June 1 to participate.  We want to make sure we have letters for everyone.

June 15 (Thursday, 10 a.m.) – Thad Beach, Building Language Through Music
Thad Beach is a performing songwriter.  Kids of all ages will enjoy his Awesome Adjectives, Radical Rhymes, Crazy Creations and the Band in a Bucket as we Build a Better World with Music!

(Adults)  June 15 (Thursday, 7 p.m.) – Bob Dixson, Mayor of Greensburg, Kansas
Bob Dixson will speak on the recovery of Greensburg following the devastating May 4, 2007 tornado.

(Adults)  June 20 (Tuesday, 12 noon) – Essential Oils by Misti Kohart
Misti Kohart will share with us about the many benefits of using essential oils.  We will serve lunch at this program.

June 22 (Thursday, 10 a.m.) – Christine McPheter, Meade County Extension, Build a Better Snack
Christine will show us how to be an architect and how to construct a yummy, easy treat you can make and enjoy at home all summer long!

June 29 (Thursday, 10 a.m.) – Savannah Ball, SW Kansas Library System
Enjoy stories and songs from around the world, including a special Strega Nona Puppet Show.

July 6 (Thursday, 10 a.m.)  – The Mad Scientist, Engineers Shape the World
Dare to walk on eggs.  Make wooden structures fall due to earthquakes.  Come and discover how electrical engineers light up the world.  Join us as our younger engineers learn how to build and shape a better world.

June 28 (Thursday, 10 a.m.) – Craft Day at the Library
We will decorate wooden book ends for you to use at home.  You will need to sign up by June 21 to participate.  We want to make sure we have book ends for everyone.

July 7 (Friday, 6:30 p.m.) – Final Program and Prize Drawing
You must be present to win prizes.
