New Year’s Closing

Can you believe that 2012 is almost here?  It doesn’t seem like it was that long ago when we were celebrating the year 2000!

The library will be closed during the long New Year’s weekend (Friday through Monday) of December 30 and 31 and January 2.  Please make sure you have plenty of reading materials and DVD’s to make it through the long weekend!

Come back to meadelibrary.info to find the spring  schedule for Story Time — lots of fun things are being planned.  The Holiday Harvest of Books will continue through the end of the year.  Books can now be purchased at a discounted rate.  It’s the perfect opportunity to remember a loved one by purchasing a book and donating it to the library.

Story Time on Wednesday

Harold and the Purple CrayonStory time will be on Wednesday, December 7, at 10:00 a.m.  Jateice Vieux will be the story time leader for the day, and she will be reading her “Favorite Stories.”  Jateice is a very enthusiastic story teller, so the little ones are sure to have a good time.

Christmas Home Tour

Tickets are now on sale for the 2011 Christmas Home Tour.  This event is sponsored by the Meade Friends of the Library and is the perfect way to start the Christmas season.

TALK this Saturday

We will be having our third TALK session this weekend.  The book to be discussed is The Bones of Plenty by Lois Phillips Hudson.  Dr. Kim Stanley, Chair of Modern Languages at McPherson College in McPherson, Kansas, will lead the discussion.  The program will be Saturday, October 8, at 2:00 p.m. in the Meade Library Community Room.

TALK – Touching the Fire

Touching the Fire by Roger L. Welsch: Book CoverOur first TALK  will be tomorrow (September 10) at 2:00 p.m. in the Meade Library Community Room.  Dr. Sara Jane Richter from Oklahoma Panhandle University will be leading the discussion on the book Touching the Fire:  Buffalo Dancers, the Sky Bundle, and Other Tales by Roger Welsch.

TALK – Great Plains Spirit

The books are here for those who want to participate in this fall’s TALK sessions.  It promises to be a very interesting program.  The theme for this year’s TALK is Great Plains Spirit.  The books are:  Touching the Fire by Roger Welsch (September 10), Little House on the Prairie by Laura Ingalls Wilder (September 24), The Bones of Plenty by Lois Phillips Hudson (October 8 ) and Great Plains by Ian Frazier (October 22).
